Get Started in your new Career - Bicycle Mechanics

The CABS Bicycle Mechanic Program

A certification program consisting of three courses. Each course is five(5) days long providing 30 hours of instruction. The first course, Bicycle Assembly & Maintenance is a perquisite for the following two; Professional Bicycle Repair & Restoration and Wheel Building & Practicum. Course fees do not include the required textbooks.

Additional Classes & Workshops for the 2021 Calendar

Throughout the year, we offer day classes, held on select weekends and evenings. Each session offer students detailed instruction in one particular discipline.  No textbooks are required and all on are hands-on.

Servicing & Rebuilding Wheel Hubs

Learn how to remove, identify issues and service wheel hubs. Sold axle and Quick Release axles are covered. Includes all materials

SWH1: Thursday, Dec. 10th, 2020 (7-9:00 PM)
SWH2: Saturday, Jan. 9th, 2021 (1-3:00 PM)
SWH3: Saturday, Jan. 30th, 2021 (1-3:00 PM)

Fee: $225 plus GST

Bicycle Fitting & Modification Workshop

Using BikeCad Pro, bicycle computer-aided-design software learn how to measure up a rider. Using the advanced BikeCad's system's generated design based on rider measurement, adjust or modify an existing bike to suit the rider. Two hour workshop.

BFW1: Saturday, Dec. 12th, 2020 (10-11:30 AM)

BFW3: Saturday Jan. 2nd, 2021 (10-11:30 AM)

Fee: $100 plus GST

Servicing & Rebuilding Bottom Brackets

Learn how to remove, and service the bottom bracket. Axle assemblies and cartridges are covered. Includes all materials.

SBB1: Thursday, Dec. 17th, 2020 (7-9:00 PM)
SBB2: Saturday, Jan. 16th, 2021 (1-3:00 PM)
SBB3: Saturday, Feb. 6th, 2021 (1-3:00 PM)

Fee: $225 plus GST

Drivetrain, Derailluers & Shift Recovery

Learn how to install derailleurs, identify shift problems and correct the cause of shift failures. Includes chain line, cross chaining, bent drops, damaged derailleurs, and installing shifting system to proper specifications.

DSR1: Thursday, Dec. 3rd, 2020 (7-9:00 PM)
DSR2: Saturday, Jan. 23rd, 2021 (1-3:00 PM)
DSR3: Saturday, Feb. 13th, 2021 (1-3:00 PM)

Fee: $225 plus GST

Servicing Headsets & Fork Removal

Learn how to remove, and service headsets. Cartridge and loose bearing installation will be taught. Includes all materials.

SHF1: Wednesday, Jan. 6th, 2021 (7-9:00 PM)
SHF2: Wednesday Jan. 13th, 2021 (7-9:00 PM)
SHF3: Wednesday Jan. 20th, 2021 (7-9:00 PM)

Fee: $225 plus GST

Emergency Road Repairs Workshop

Flat tires, bent derailleurs, broken chains are just three of the issues this workshop covers. Learn how to deal with these problems and be the wrench of your group, club and family. Two hour workshop.
