Tire, Tube & Wheel Mastery for Moms and Kids

Are you looking for a great way to spend quality time your your child?

Learn how to do basic bike repair on your child's bicycle with "Tire Tube & Wheel Mastery for Moms & Kids", a new workshop from Central Alberta Bicycle School. (CABS)

You bring your child (one) and child's bicycle to this workshop on one Saturday. This workshop is for children accompanied by their mothers, for ages 7 to 11.

The skills you learn will add some cache to your mommy toolkit.

Class Outline:
Duration:** 1.5 hours

1) Introduction (15 minutes)

  • Welcome and Introduction to the Workshop
  • Icebreaker Activity: Sharing Exciting Bike Adventures

2) Understanding Bike Wheels and Tires (15 minutes)

  • Brief Overview of Bike Components
  • Explanation of Tire Tubes: Types, Sizes, and Valve Types
  • Importance of Proper Tire Inflation

3) Tire Tube Changing Demonstration (20 minutes)

  • Step-by-Step Guide: Removing and Replacing a Tire Tube
  • Safety Precautions: Handling Tools and Dealing with Sharp Objects
  • Tips for Identifying Causes of Tube Damage

4) Hands-On Practice Session (30 minutes)

  • Moms and Kids Partner Up: Each Pair Receives a Practice Bike Wheel
  • Guided Assistance: Instructors Circulate to Offer Help and Answer Question
  • Practice Removing and Replacing Tire Tubes

5) Finding the Correct Tube Replacement (15 minutes)

  • Understanding Tube Size and Valve Compatibility
  • Wheel Removal and Replacement (15 minutes)
  • Overview of Wheel Removal Process

6) Demonstration: Proper Technique for Removing and Replacing Bike Wheel wheels

NOTE:  This class outline is designed to be interactive and engaging, providing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills for moms and kids to confidently change tire tubes and wheels. The hands-on practice session ensures that participants leave with tangible experience and the ability to perform these maintenance tasks independently.

Meet your Instructor:

Becky Stahl - Becky is a mother of four having homeschooled each one.

Becky is a Certified Bicycle Assembly Mechanic, and a four year employee with Circuit Cycle & Sports in Millet.

 

 

WORKSHOP FEE:  $50.00 (plus gst)

  • INCLUDES: Free Tire Levers and Tube Patching Kit.
